The Tree of Light is a very special ask for us, the last fundraising event for the year. It is also a special event however, and an opportunity for you to remember those loved ones lost too soon!
Since 1992 we have been holding this unique ceremony in Durban. The ceremony will be taking place in Jameson Park (opposite Mitchell Park) on Friday 1st December and we would love for you to join us in this beautiful and touching ceremony.
It is a time to remember loved ones who are no longer with us.
We start at 6.00pm with music with a Christmas theme supplied by our dedicated volunteer musicians. We have food stalls but you are welcome to bring a picnic basket along, as well as a blanket and don’t forget your umbrella in case it rains – we will have a couple of tents up for shelter just in case.
We also ask people to buy a candle and light it on the night.
The actual lighting of the tree takes place at 7.45pm (weather permitting) when over 9,000 globes light up with a soft radiance. The tree will shine throughout December.
If you would like to remember a loved one for this special event please let us have your donation of R60.00 per globe. Kindly fill in the enclosed form to indicate who you are remembering so that we can put your dedication in our Book of Remembrance.
Corporates are invited to sponsor the star on the top of the tree for R10,000 as a shining symbol of your love, care and concern for our community. Your company name will have a special page at the front of our Book of Remembrance and will receive mention on our all our social media as well as being mentioned on the night. We will also issue you with a Section 18a tax certificate.
Please join us for this unique and memorable occasion – it is a truly touching experience.
